One of my favorite characters to do in Kids’ Church is Nerdman. A loveable nerd with superhero powers that ‘tries’ to rescue those in need. What I love about Nerdman is that, like Superman, he can change in and out of costume rather quickly. Part of his costume is an old pair of short basketball shorts that slip over whatever else I might be wearing that day. I never will forget, nor will the kids, the time Nerdman came didn’t quite get changed back into Pastor Jon. I left the stage as Nerdman, and came back onto the stage to watch as my wife taught the memory verse. She looked over at me and snickered. The kids all looked at me and began to snicker… pretty soon I was the only one that was not laughing. I still did not get it until my wife looked at me, pointed at the shorts that were still over my dress pants and asked, ‘forgetting something?’ Nerdman’s alter ego was definitely destroyed that day!
