I made a very large prop Bible which When opened contained what looked like 3 large dynamite sticks (God’s word is powerful). Each stick of dynamite consist of rolled up red construction paper which formed a tube about an inch in diameter and 10 inches long. They were stuffed with newspaper to keep them ridged and end on end I would put a real fire cracker with the fuse hanging out. At the appropriate time in our Bible story that demonstrated the power of God’s word I would demonstrate by lighting the fake dynamite stick which had that days scripture written on it. I didn’t get into trouble until I decided to make it more powerful and put two firecrackers in the end of the fake stick and then tie the two together with a bigger fuse entwined into the existing fuses. I was doing one of the puppets behind stage and the main teacher that day was in front of the class working with my puppet character and when the teacher lit the fuse it set off one fire cracker before the other one. what this did was blow the second firecracker into the puppet stage where it blew a hole in the curtain and then it blew the remaining portion of the larger fuse onto the top of my head where it continued to burn. Needless to say I took out the firecracker bit from then on.
